For review
Immortal Remains
Rook Hastings
Harper Collins 2010
This follow up to the hugely creepy Nearly Departed (review here) moves from hugely creepy to enormously terrifying.  See my review here and a Q and A with the author here.  I enjoyed it immensely in a crap-I'm-going-to-have-to-sleep-with-the-light-on sort of way.

The Dead
Charlie Higson
Puffin 2010
I cannot stress enough how excellent both The Dead and its predecessor, The Enemy are.  Zombies, London, Small Sam and The Kid.... Really very, very good.  I have reviews written for both titles which will be posted during my Week Of The Living Dead, which coincides with the release date of The Dead.  There will be a give away of both titles then and even if you don't win, you should still invest in a copy of each.

Bought
Freak Magnet
Andrew Auseon
HarperTeen 2010
After reading this review by Carla over at The Crooked shelf it just seemed rude not to get a copy of Freak Magnet.  I know nothing about it other than what she wrote, but she makes it sound so good that I am really looking forward to finding out more - apart from anything else, Carla has excellent book taste and I've yet to dislike anything that she's recommended.

Swoon
Nina Malkin
Simon Pulse 2009
I have read some extremely mixed reviews of Swoon.  It seems to have completely divided the blogosphere with some raving about it and others ranting in the extreme.  If nothing else, these reviews have made me very curious to find out what all the fuss is about.

Book Tour
Wake
Lisa McMann
Simon and Schuster Children's 2009
This isn't a title that I know much about but I have heard only good things about it (apart from the fact that it's being turned into a film starring the god-awful Miley Cyrus). Thanks to the fabulous UK Book Tours for arranging this copy.

Book Fairy Goodness
Obernewtyn
Isabelle Carmody
Random House 2008
The lovely Vicki at Rhiana Reads sent me a copy of this book after I expressed an interest in reading it.  I like the fact that it is a dystopian/post-apocalypse tale that looks like fantasy.  Should be an interesting read - thank you, Vicki!

So that's it - a pretty good week.  I am excited about all the books that I've received and looking forward to sharing my view on them here.  Happy reading, everyone x

I got Immortal Remains this week too, and I especially excited now I've read your review. I will of course be fascinated to hear what you think of Swoon, since several of my most trusted bloggers had such vastly different opinions of it.

I enjoyed Obernewtyn, and I agree Freak Magnet sounds like a great read. Enjoy! :)
Oh please....not a Miley Cyrus movie :(

Just looked up Obernewtyn on goodreads. I may have to check into that one.

Enjoy!

Yay, yay, yay!! I hope you adore the Obernewtyn Chronicles! You all should read it. It's brilliant! (sadly the last two books keep getting pushed back and back.. originally supposed to come out May 2010 and now have been pushed to November 2011! Argh!)

Hey thre Sya! I just found your blog and I'm glad to meet another UK blogger! :)

I'm surprised you didn't buy Mockingjay this week! Swoon and Freak Magnet both sound awesome, they are on my TBR :) Enjoy Wake too, it's an interesting book :) Have fun reading!
I want to buy Freak Magnet at some point, I love the synopsis for it, and it sounds quirky!
Fantastic selection of books. I've also got Wake sitting in my bookshelf - just haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I'm very curious to read your review of Swoon because I have also heard a lot of mixed reviews about that one!
Heehee! Living Dead Week, sounds fantastic! I'm really looking forward to The Dead and I LOVED The Enemy (and Charlie Higson!) Also, Freak Magnet sounds like a book for me!
