The Mountains of Instead

Championing fiction as an escape from pandemics, politics and bad TV.

IMM (#6)

In My Mailbox is a meme created and hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren with inspiration from Alea at Pop Culture Junkie. It basically give book bloggers everywhere the opportunity to share what books they have received/bought/librarised (yes, I know that librarised is not a word) over the last week. It's also responsible for my personal wish list and TBR piles growing by several dozen titles each week as I get inspired by what everyone else gets in their mailbox...
All book titles link to further info at Goodreads.

This week's IMM is a bit longer as I missed last week - I've already read most of them and am pleased that they were almost all good choices. This selection came from both Amazon and my local library:

Chloe Neill
Signet Books
I thought that this looked like a lot of fun, and it was.  It also counts towards the 2010 Debut Author Challenge, so yay!  Review to come soon.
PC and Kristen Cast
ATOM
I'd wanted to read this for a while and am afraid that I absolutely hated it.  The story was great, but the main character was too sanctamonious and judgemental for my liking.  Review may follow when I've calmed down a bit...

Kelley Armstrong
Orbit
Books two and three of the Darkest Powers series have not disappointed.  Great writing, real characters and a thrilling story line! See my review of book one here.

Sarah Rees Brennan
Simon Pulse
Loved the Demon's Lexicon and had been looking forward to this for ages.  Well worth the wait - has firmly placed Ms. Brennan in my top ten YA author list.

Jenny Han
Razor Bill
I read this on the recommendation of several fellow bloggers, and it is an interesting one... At times I thought that I really disliked it but have decided that it is extremely cleverly written and portrays real characters in real situations.

Maggie Stiefvater
Flux
I am a huge Maggie fan and had been waiting to read this for ages.  I loved Lament (review here) and will be reviewing Ballad in the next few days.

So that's me for this week.  Hope you all had an interesting selection and I will look forward to trawling through your many posts and getting more inspiration later!
Happy reading!

I have all of these books on my bookshelf, but have yet to read any of them. I just haven't had time, but I've heard and read good things so I will get to them.

Enjoy your reading!!

FAB!! you got some amazing books this week!! If you loved Lament then I don't know how your going to handle Ballad, because it is SO much better. I loved James in Lament so I was like so excited Ballad was told from his pov. I really loved TSITP, a very character driven story, which shows what an amazing writer Han is! So glad you enjoyed it!! Happy Reading

Oh, I'm such a huge Maggie Stiefvater fan too. I've read Shiver and am dying to read Ballad. Great selection of books by the way - The Reckoning especially looks good!
